Building strong communities and uplifting class experiences that ignite joy through movement.
I've been teaching fitness since 2017, and it has been such a source of joy for me ever since!
I am the Founder of The Recovery Barre nonprofit, creator of The Recovery Barre training, and Marketing Director for Fit Pro Programming. Prior to these roles, I spent nearly a decade as a school counselor and worked for a year in nonprofit communications. My professional background, along with my lived experiences, has deeply shaped my passion for delivering accessible programming and welcoming classes that expand access to fitness and help every participant build a healthy, enjoyable relationship with movement!
I'm grateful that my work today weaves together everything I love. Along with my full-time roles, I create choreography for Barre Above and Pumped Up Strength continuity releases, lead instructor certifications and CEU workshops, teach for Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation, lead The Recovery Barre at the Alano North Club every week, and enjoy bringing movement to special events, from corporate wellness to bachelorette parties.
Wherever we move together, my mission is the same: to create enjoyable class experiences that help you discover the joy of movement and give you the knowledge to move well, so you leave feeling energized, strong, and empowered to step into all you were uniquely created to do.
It's an honor to move with you.
♡ Ashlynn

This was an amazing class. I was most impressed with the expertise that Ashlynn Howe has that is based on actual research and not simply anecdotal. She made a point to develop this class based on professional and academic researchers who studied recovery and fitness on a non-biased basis. Everything about the class was phenomenal — the movement, the learning, the sharing, the perspectives. I feel so much more informed and ready to use this to better my community!
Veronica The Recovery Barre Certified InstructorExcellent training! I loved it. Such an amazing therapeutic application of barre that is unique and very much needed. I was very impressed by Ashlynn's research, statistics, and explanation of trauma-informed best practices. This was a really worthwhile and inspiring Saturday morning! I'm so looking forward to launching my own Recovery Barre classes in my community!
Chloe The Recovery Barre Certified InstructorI love Ashlynn's energy! She is very knowledgeable and has a way of explaining everything clearly. Can't wait to get started teaching barre!
